Waitomo
The caves at Waitomo are one of New Zealand's most commanding wonders -
a celebration of nature's work over the last one hundred thousand years.
In 1880, the discoverers of this 'domain of beauty in forbidding darkness' found
hundreds of miles of labyrinthine caves, glow-worms, stalactites and stalagmites,
and all manner of limestone crustations - a lost world. Here you can slip silently
on a barge to admire the beauty and grandeur of the Caves. The more adventurous may
abseil 300 feet (90 metres) into the Lost World or try blackwater tubing through
underground streams.

Rotorua
Geysers, bubbling mud pools and Maori hospitality are some of
the many experiences you will encounter in Rotorua. It is the oldest and best-known resort in the country, where generations of visitors have enjoyed
its waters, marvelled at its fascinating geothermal activity and experienced the region's unique Maori culture.
And New Zealand's premier Maori cultural experience is Tamaki Maori Village. The experience includes a Maori welcome, a glimpse of traditional Maori activities,
a performance and hangi(an earthen oven) dinner. |

Taupo
Taupo is an hour's drive south from Rotorua on the northern shore of Lake Taupo and
is a major holiday retreat for New Zealanders.
Lake Taupo fills two of the vast former volcanoes and is New Zealand's largest lake.
Its only outlet is the Waikato River and all the water is channelled through a chasm 53 feet
(16 metres) wide with an 36 feet (11 metre) drop. This is the spectacular Huka Falls.
Many people enjoy cruising on the lake, participating in the many water activities,
or simply relaxing on the lake shores. Land activities include helicopter
rides, horse treks, bungy jumping, rafting, golfing or visiting nearby thermal regions.

Napier
Napier is renowned for a beautiful coastline, stately Norfolk pines,
a multitude of nearby wineries and 1930's art deco architecture.
In 1931, a two and a half minute earthquake destroyed the city of
Napier which had to be completely rebuilt. A marvellous collection of buildings
in the 1930's Art Deco style sprang up, which is celebrated with a special Art Deco
weekend every February. Guided and self-guided architectural walks are receommended.
Since the mid-nineteenth century, Hawkes Bay has been recognised as a premium wine-growing centre. Today eighteen wine producers produce
one third of the national grape harvest and many are open for winetastings and lunch.
